Nearly 20 workers’ strikes in Binh Duong province have occurred so far this year. This number is said to increase compared to the same period last year.
VoV network reported on June 11 citing the Labor Confederation of Binh Duong province about workers’ strikes in this locality in the first half of 2022.
Statistics show that out of a total of nearly 20 strikes, which the Labor Union calls collective labor disputes, almost all of them occurred at foreign-invested enterprises; with only one meeting being at a domestic enterprise. The type of business where strikes occurred the most was in the wood processing industry with nine strikes.
The number of workers participating in those strikes is said to be close to 11,000 people.
The reason for the increase in the number of strikes is said to be because both enterprises and employees have violated the law, including the Law on Trade Union and the Law on Social Insurance.
Workers strike mainly to demand their legitimate rights such as wage increases and social benefits. However, there is a comment from the Labor Federation of Binh Duong province that it is because of a lack of understanding of the law or because of being manipulated and agitated.
